Drill Team Part 2

The competition went really, really well. We came in 2nd overall and won first in Inspection and Standard. We lost Innovative by 7 pts, Written Exam by 6 questions and the Mile by 5 sec/person. :(

Very close.
Very good competition.

Caroline got Fleetfoot Female for a 6:44 mile.

I loved it.
I miss it.
*sigh*

Drill Team

So the competition (regionals) starts tomorrow night at like 8:30pm. And I'm kinda nervous. But I'm really excited too.

The entire drill team is spending tonight at my place too, cause it's closest to our leaving location and will save on what time people have to get up. I hope the people actually sleep though.

Nervous.
Excited.
Wondering.
Deliberating.
Life.

I've decided to revise my last post.

I've sworn off guys for a little while.

I'm not going to obsess anymore.

I'm going to let the chips..."fall where they may"... :)

And, as much as I'd love a high school sweetheart, the chances of that are extremely slim - considering I have all of two months left...

I've sworn off boys for now.

I have to focus on school.

So, guys: sorry. You're not getting anything.

Not until I graduate college.

And maybe then I'll be mature enough/smart enough for a guy.

Maybe.

Run, Run As Fast As You Can

You Can't Catch Me Cause I'm Karen.

Okay, enough nonsense. Especially as you probably could catch me. My mile time is somewhere in the 7:45-9:15 range right now. It depends on weather, adrenaline and a couple other factors... Like at last drill team, I ran a 9:08. For my CFA, I ran an 8:03. Impressing USAFA? A bit more important than impressing drill team, I guess!

So, I'm running Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday now. Some Saturdays - if I have drill team. I swim Tuesdays so it's sort of a "day off" but I'm still working out. Just less muscle strain. My goal is to get so that I can run a mile straight without having to walk any of it. And then, before USAFA, be running 3-5 miles consistently. Not sure how I'll ever clock that but it's a good goal. Most of the time I run, I'm not really running for speed anyway. I'm just trying to work on my endurance. And swimming is helping that.

So, that guy asked me out. And I said no. There were a couple reasons. But now I feel weird. It's so weird having to say no when guys ask you out. Like, in some ways I just want to say yes so they don't feel rejected but then I'd be using them, wasting our time and his money. So I have to let them face rejection...sigh...

I'm watching "Castle". It's like the most hilarious show on TV right now. It's like legit funny too. :) It's a police drama except the detective gets followed around by a murder mystery author so you get his "non-police" input - and his witty comebacks and sayings. It's really awesome.

Calculus is going. I wouldn't say well. But I wouldn't say poorly either.

Physics is.

"Macbeth" is boring - anyone have any good ideas for how to read it enjoyably?

Sigh.

I blame Caleb

I have become semi-obsessed with MBTI and other personality test indicators. I am now an avid member of Typology Central.

Thanks Caleb.

Thanks.

Hahahahahahaha!!!

Okay, so here's a funny story:

This guy I know, I'll call him....Nick, has been texting me lately. He just broke up with his girlfriend and we know each other well. Anyway, he's started sending me those texts which precede the inevitable "so...wanna go out sometime?" text. And I really didn't want to have to deal with that because I really don't feel like that towards him. He's younger than me, for one thing, and he's just not my style...yeah...whatever.

So, around 9:30pm last night, Nick texts me and is like "hey - so sorry I didn't text you earlier, I was kinda busy..." And I decided to stop this thing right away and so I said, "oh, no prob. I spent the time talking to a guy in Cali" - meaning Slackerhorn. So he's like "just a random guy or you actually know him" and I was like "I make it a regular practice to flirt with random hot guys in Cali" and his response is: "I've been to cali - that count? ;) jking" - but it confirms my thoughts... So I was like "yeah, I know him. CAP" and then he's like bugging me even a bit more - like how I know him, etc. so I said "I spent two weeks with him last summer and will see him again on our one year anniversary" (Two weeks being COS and our being DK - lol :P ) And he's like "you're dating? long distance?" so I said "it's tough but :D" Because I didn't want to lie right out but I did want to annoy him...ish... And so he's all like "wow...and one year, that takes commitment..." lol.

And Slackerhorn was all laughing and cool with it too. I finally told him like two hours later simply because I didn't want to keep having to be mean to him.

But then he's all like, "oh so you're pretending to date? haha" And "we should pretend to date, lol but it'd be weird if we actually dated after fake dating" Oooookkkkkay?!

But Slackerhorn was nice about it and willing to play along. And there were a couple weird questions and all from people. I even changed my status on FB to say "to be or no be single: that is the question". And I got 6 guys (males) telling me all about relationships. LOL!! Like, no joke. I had a guy from USAFA SS, Caleb, a guy from COS and Bryan from bio co-op on FB, texting Nick and chatting with Kevin. It was insane lol...I literally could not keep track of the conversations.

And then weird conversations followed. And yeah.

Legislative Day and Today

So last Wednesday, I went down to the CAP Legislative Day in DC. It was pretty cool. We got to hang out in the hotel, meet some really cute guys from VT and then, the next day, we got to walk around the Hill.

First, we went and saw our representative but he was busy so we saw his staffer, Jim, instead. And Jim was sooo cute. Especially when he smiled, lol. And I'm not obsessing, it's just true...

Next, we went and saw Senator Carper but he was also away so we talked to his staffer. After we finished with the staffer, he said Sen. Carper wanted a picture with us so could we come back later. Unfortunately, our later appointment would run into coming back so we had to decline. :( So, then, he said, "well, let me look something up", called a couple people and came back a little later to say "so, I'm going to take you over to the Capitol building and we're going to use the senators and their staffers private train/subway" !!!! SHOCK !!!! Anyway, so we got on this little train thing and choo-choo-ed over to inside the Capitol. And, we went to the Senate Waiting Room and had our picture taken.

Then, Sen. Carper was like "So, where are you going now?" and I'm like "Off to see Sen. Kaufman's staff, sir." So, he says "are you going to see Ted [the Senator]?" "No, sir, he's busy..." "He's not busy, wait here..." And off Sen. Carper runs to grab Sen. Kaufman and make him come over and talk to us. :D It was so funny and cool.

Then we talked to Sen. Kaufman's staff in Vice-President Biden's meeting room (cause the senator's room wasn't unpacked yet and Biden was like 'here, use my room.' " lol

Then we left. And went swimming. And had dinner at Sbarro's. And packed up. And left. Sigh.

Today, I have a phone interview with the NSA for the Stokes Educational Scholarship Program. I'm not sure if I want to do it or not. It's either that or USAFA and I can't decide. Not sure if I want a desk job or not. Not sure if I want to do intelligence or not. Not sure if anything...

State Science Olympiad competition on Saturday. I'm missing Drill Team for it so I have to run a lot today and tomorrow to make up for it. At least a couple miles...

Will be taking my Spaatz in the second week of June sometime...dum, dum, duuummm...
